Imphal, July 24: The iconic Durand Cup, India’s oldest football tournament returns to Imphal as the 134th edition’s group-stage matches are set to kick off at the newly restored Khuman Lampak Main Stadium from July 30. The tournament’s revival in the Manipur capital symbolizes resilience and renewal after last year’s devastating floods, with the stadium receiving a comprehensive facelift under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
Organised by the Indian Army in close coordination with the Government of Manipur, this year’s Durand Cup will see high-stakes action featuring four top teams: TRAU FC, NEROCA FC, Indian Navy Football Team, and Real Kashmir FC. The opening match will be a local derby between TRAU FC and NEROCA FC, setting the tone for a series of exciting fixtures lined up through mid-August.

This edition of the Durand Cup will also witness an unprecedented prize structure. In addition to the team championship, three brand-new SUVs will be awarded to the Golden Boot (top scorer), Golden Glove (best goalkeeper), and Golden Ball (best player) winners, highlighting individual brilliance and raising the competitive stakes.
Preparations for the tournament have been meticulous, with pitch restoration, infrastructure upgrades, and logistical planning all carried out to ensure a world-class sporting experience. The excitement has already begun building across Manipur, with enthusiastic crowds attending the recent trophy showcase on July 10.
