MUMBAI, Nov 30: The 13th edition of the bilateral Joint Military Exercise AGNI WARRIOR (XAW-2024) between the Indian Army and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) concluded on Saturday at the Field Firing Ranges in Devlali, Maharashtra. The three-day exercise, held from November 28 to November 30, witnessed active participation from 182 personnel of the Singapore Artillery and 114 personnel from the Indian Army’s Regiment of Artillery.
The primary objective of XAW-2024 was to enhance mutual understanding of drills and procedures and achieve operational jointness as a multinational force under the United Nations Charter. According to the Indian Army, the exercise strengthened defence cooperation and interoperability while fostering mutual understanding between the two forces.
“This Artillery exercise has enhanced defence cooperation, interoperability and mutual understanding between the Indian Army and the Singapore Armed Forces, SAF. Strengthening ties, enhancing capabilities,” ADG PI-Indian Army stated in a post on X.
XAW-2024 showcased joint firepower planning, execution, and the utilization of new-generation artillery equipment by both armies. It involved extensive joint preparation, coordination, and the evolution of a shared interface between the artillery procedures of the Indian Army and the Singapore Armed Forces.
Dignitaries present at the event included Lieutenant General Adosh Kumar, Director General of Artillery; Lieutenant General NS Sarna, Commandant of the School of Artillery; and Colonel Ong Chiou Perng, Chief Artillery Officer of the Singapore Armed Forces. They commended the participating troops for their professional expertise and high-level performance during the exercise.
The training enabled Singapore Armed Forces troops to gain valuable insights into firepower planning, with both sides leveraging niche technologies and exchanging best practices as part of the joint exercise. The successful culmination of XAW-2024 highlighted the strengthening of bilateral ties and the enhancement of operational capabilities between the Indian and Singapore Armed Forces.
