44 MLAs Ready to Form Government in Manipur: BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam

IMPHAL, May 28:  In a significant political development, Manipur BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam Singh announced on Wednesday that 44 MLAs are prepared to form a popular government in the state, reflecting the collective will of the people. 

The announcement came after a delegation of 10 MLAs, including Radheshyam, met with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan today.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Radheshyam stated, “All 44 MLAs have agreed to form a popular government as per the public wish.”

The MLA emphasized that the delegation represented all the MLAs. “Ten of us visited the Governor as representatives of all to explain our position. The Governor has noted our statement and will act in the best interests of the people,” he added.

However, the MLA did not specify the timing of staking claim to form the government, He clarified that the final decision lies with the central leadership of the BJP. 

He further noted that Speaker Th Satyabrata has met with all the MLAs individually and collectively, and there is no opposition among the legislators to the formation of a new government.

The delegation also submitted a formal letter of support to the Governor, urging him to consider their majority and take prompt constitutional action to ensure a stable governance structure in the state.

The Governor is expected to review the claim and initiate further steps as per constitutional procedures.
