Imphal, September 8: In a major crackdown, security forces in Manipur have arrested seven militants belonging to various proscribed outfits during a series of coordinated search operations across the state.
According to Manipur Police, four individuals were apprehended on Sunday near Border Pillar 73 in the Chongjang area under Moreh police station in Tengnoupal district. The arrested militants were identified as Ch. Thoiba Singh (20) of Sekmai, Imphal West (KCP-MFL), Pukhrambam Tondonba Singh (19) of Nachou, Bishnupur (UNLF-K), Kh. Thoithoiba Singh (18) of Pallel, Kakching (PLA), and Mayanglambam Borish Singh (21) of Kakching Wairi, Kakching (PLA).
The arrests followed intelligence-based combing and cordon and search operations aimed at targeting individuals involved in extortion and other criminal activities in the region.

In a separate operation on the same day, two active cadres of the banned outfit KCP (Apunba) were arrested from their residences in Lilong Chajing Mamang Leikai under Singjamei police station in Imphal West district. The individuals were identified as Angom Silky Devi (22) and Oinam Niranjit Singh (21). Police said the duo was involved in extortion and recruiting local youths into the outfit.
Additionally, on Saturday, another militant identified as Hodam Bikram Singh (34), a cadre of KCP (PWG), was apprehended near Thoubal District Hospital. He is a resident of Wangjing Awang Leikai under Thoubal police station in Thoubal district.
