IMPHAL, Feb 26: A total of 87 different types of weapons, various ammunition, munitions, and other miscellaneous items were voluntarily surrendered to the Manipur Police by the public across several districts, including Churachandpur, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Kangpokpi, Jiribam, and Imphal West, on Tuesday. The voluntary surrender followed an ultimatum issued to local youths to dispose of illegal weapons.

According to Manipur Police, security forces conducted extensive search operations and area domination efforts in the fringe and vulnerable areas of both hill and valley districts. These operations led to the recovery of various weapons from Tengnoupal district.

In a separate development, security forces arrested two active cadres of the KCP(PWG) group from Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur district. Arms and ammunition were recovered from their possession. The arrested individuals, along with the recovered items, were handed over to the BPR-PS for further legal proceedings.
Additionally, security forces dismantled two illegal bunkers at Thingel Leikal, located on a farm in Thoubal district. Authorities also recovered a four-wheeler without a number plate and proper documentation during the search operation.
