Senapati, Oct 2:   The United Naga Council (UNC) has decided to temporarily suspend its planned 48-hour total bandh in Naga areas, which was set to begin at midnight on October 3, 2024.

This decision follows an official invitation from the Government of India for Tripartite Talks concerning the District Rollback issue. The talks, scheduled for October 11, 2024, in New Delhi, will include representatives from the Government of India, the Government of Manipur, and the UNC.

The suspension comes after a request from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Security Advisor for Northeast India.

In a statement released by UNC, the Council thanked its constituent units, subordinate bodies, Naga frontal organizations, and the Naga people for their continuous support. The UNC called on everyone to stay united and prepared for further actions until their demands are fully addressed.

The upcoming talks are expected to address the district reorganization issue, a significant concern for the Naga community. While the bandh has been suspended for now, the UNC remains committed to monitoring the situation closely as they push for a resolution.
