Aizawl, Oct 4: A joint operation by Assam Rifles and the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department led to the seizure of around 1980 grams of Methamphetamine tablets, valued at more than Rs 6 crore, in Siaha district on October 3. Two individuals, including a Myanmar national, were arrested in connection with the smuggling operation.
Based on intelligence regarding drugs being smuggled from Myanmar into India, authorities arrested the Myanmar resident during the handover of the illegal consignment to a local contact in Siaha. A subsequent search led to further recoveries of the drug.
The entire seized consignment was valued at Rs 6.65 crore. Both suspects are currently in the custody of the Excise & Narcotics Department in Siaha, and further investigations and legal action are underway.
