Imphal, Oct 10: Security forces conducted widespread search operations across Manipur’s hill and valley districts on October 9, leading to the discovery of a substantial cache of illegal weapons and ammunition. The operation is part of ongoing efforts to tackle arms proliferation in the region.

During a search in Langol Hill, Luwangshangbam, Imphal East District, authorities recovered two .32 pistols with magazines, one 9mm pistol, two hand grenades, and two improvised mortars. The haul also included 32 live rounds, 80 empty cartridges, and various grenades and gas shells.

In a separate operation at Champhai Hill, security forces uncovered an M-16 rifle, two SLR rifles, two carbines with magazines, and eight country-made 9mm pistols, among other weapons.
