New Delhi, Oct 12: The government has launched the Prime Minister Internship Scheme, offering approximately 91,000 internship opportunities across 193 companies on the dedicated internship portal.
The portal, initially launched on a pilot basis on October 3, 2024, has now opened for registration for applicants, with opportunities available for application from today until October 25. The government aims to provide 1.25 lakh internship opportunities during the financial year 2024-25, with the portal designed to streamline the process at pminternship.mca.gov.in.
The scheme, backed by a total budget of ₹800 crore, aims to benefit one crore young candidates aged 21 to 24 years over the next five years. Successful interns will receive monthly financial assistance of ₹5,000 for 12 months, along with a one-time grant of ₹6,000. Opportunities are spread across 737 districts, covering 36 States and Union Territories, in 24 sectors, including oil and gas, energy, travel and hospitality, automotive, and banking and financial services.
The internship program has been designed to involve companies based on their average Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) expenditure over the past three years. While participation is voluntary, any company, bank, or financial institution wishing to join the scheme may do so with approval from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
