KAMJONG, Oct 24: A tragic road accident in Kamjong district on Thursday morning resulted in the deaths of two individuals and left one person injured. The incident occurred around 10:30 am near Shingcha village, roughly 40 kilometers from the district headquarters.
The victims have been identified as Themmaso Tallanao, the President of the Tangkhul Mayar Ngala Long, from Longpi Kajui, and Masothing, the Assistant general secretary, from Seikhor village.
The driver, who was injured, was promptly taken to the nearest hospital in Kamjong for medical attention.
Local reports indicate that the Bolero vehicle the victims were in lost control while navigating a sharp turn, plunging into a gorge and landing in a stream about 50 feet below the main road. The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
