GUWAHATI, Nov 1: During Diwali celebrations on October 31, a deadly fire broke out on Laxmipriya Road in Sivasagar, Assam, resulting in one fatality and the destruction of 11 rented homes. The blaze, which erupted near the Sadar police station in ward 7, primarily affected residences occupied by food vendors and artisans.

The victim, identified as Shyam Rai, was caught in the flames and later passed away from severe burn injuries at the hospital. The fire intensified due to multiple gas cylinder explosions, allowing it to spread quickly through the area.
