SENAPATI, Nov 25: The Senapati District Health Society (DHS) successfully conducted the Kayakalp Assessment at Paomata Primary Health Centre (PHC) and Laii PHC. The assessment team was led by Dr. Sumpi Percy, Director and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Senapati District Health Society, alongside Mrs. RK Elizabeth, District Program Manager of the National Health Mission (NHM).
The Kayakalp initiative evaluates public health facilities to encourage adherence to high standards in sanitation, hygiene, and overall facility management. During the assessment, the team reviewed several criteria, including facility upkeep, sanitation, waste management, infection control, support services, and hygiene promotion practices.
Dr. Percy emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control measures in public health facilities. She encouraged the medical staff to regularly evaluate and improve their practices to ensure quality healthcare for the community.
Mrs. Elizabeth highlighted the significance of PHCs in India’s healthcare system, particularly under the National Health Mission. She noted that PHCs are established to serve populations of 30,000 in rural areas and 20,000 in hilly, tribal, or desert regions. As the first point of contact between village communities and medical officers, PHCs play a critical role in providing accessible healthcare.
The team commended the efforts of the staff at both Paomata and Laii PHCs for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and service delivery. This assessment underscores the commitment of the Senapati District Health Society to improve healthcare infrastructure and promote better health outcomes in the region.
