IMPHAL, Nov 28: Manipur Police on November 26, intercepted a four-wheeler on Pallel Chandel Road and seized 135 grams of suspected heroin powder concealed in 11 soap cases.
The contraband was discovered during a routine inspection, and the driver, identified as 24-year-old Md. Rousan, was arrested on the spot. Authorities confiscated the vehicle, a mobile phone, and the suspected drugs.
Meanwhile, security forces conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Manipur’s hill and valley districts.
The movement of 262 and 336 vehicles carrying essential items along National Highways 37 and 2 was also ensured, with strict security measures in place. Security forces provided convoys in sensitive stretches to guarantee the safe and uninterrupted transportation of goods.
To maintain law and order, a total of 94 Nakas and checkpoints were installed across various districts in the state, both in hill and valley regions. No individuals were detained for violations during these operations, highlighting the efficiency of the measures in place.
