KOHIMA, Dec 4: The 25th Hornbill Festival celebrations in Nagaland continued on Wednesday with the traditional Stone Pulling Ceremony, a significant cultural practice of the Agami Naga tribes. Held along the Kohima-Moa National Highway-02, the event started at Jakhama Military Station and concluded at Kisama Heritage Village (Gate 2).
Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio graced the occasion alongside other distinguished guests, including Annapurna Alley, Secretary of Information and Public Relations, Government of Sikkim, and Yougan Tamang, Press Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sikkim.
The ceremony began with tribal elders and priests conducting rituals to invoke blessings. Participants dressed in traditional attire demonstrated synchronized efforts to pull the massive stone, symbolizing unity, strength, and resilience within the community.
The vibrant display of cultural heritage added a captivating highlight to the ongoing Hornbill Festival, showcasing the rich traditions and unity of the Naga community while drawing visitors from across the nation and beyond.
