IMPHAL, Dec 5: Students from the Federal Students’ Organisation, Kangleipak (FESOK), staged a protest today at the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) office in Babupara, locking the premises in response to the delay in appointing a new Chairman. The students were met by police personnel who had been deployed at the office to maintain order.
FESOK representatives explained that their action was a direct result of the authorities’ failure to appoint a competent and corruption-free Chairman for the board, despite a notification issued by the Joint Director of the Department of Education (S) on October 24. The appointment has yet to be made, leading to mounting frustration within the student community.
During the protest, students attempted to lock the BOSEM office as a show of defiance, but their efforts were blocked by police officers. Authorities intervened quickly, preventing any further escalation of the situation. FESOK representatives warned that they would continue their agitation until a suitable Chairman is appointed, and if the issue is not resolved soon, they would consider intensifying their protests.
