SENAPATI, Dec 5: In a concerted effort to curb the cultivation of illegal poppy plants, a combined team comprising officials from the Senapati Forest Department, an Executive Magistrate from the Senapati District Administration, and the Senapati District Police on Thursday conducted a poppy destruction drive in the hill ranges of Makuilongdi and Thonglang Atongba under Maram Police Station, Senapati District.

Led by the SDPO Senapati, the team successfully destroyed approximately 8.76 acres of poppy fields during the operation. The poppy plants were found to be in the initial stages of flowering.

A case has been registered at the Maram Police Station for further investigation.
