PAOMATA, Dec 14: The first two-day General Conference of the Tunggam Afii Women Society successfully concluded on December 14, 2024, following an inaugural program held on December 13 at the Afii Local Ground. The event drew approximately 200 women from both within the village and beyond, marking a significant milestone for the community and highlighting the crucial roles women play in family life and society at large.
The conference featured distinguished guest speakers, Mrs. L. Esther Kadi, Chairperson of the Poumai Baptist Church in Senapati, and Dr. Rozonai Kennedy, an accountant in the Department of Education.
On the first day, Rev. L. Ashuli, Pastor of CRC, led the ceremony for the inauguration of the hall, followed by the opening session, which included a welcome address and presentation from the Chairperson of the Tunggam Afii Women Society. Dr. Rozonai Kennedy delivered the keynote address on Day 1, with an empowering message on “The Role of Women in Financial Planning and Management.” She emphasized the importance of financial literacy and independence for women, encouraging them to equip themselves with the necessary tools to manage their resources and contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.
On Day 2, Mrs. L. Esther Kadi took the stage to speak on “The Role of Women in Family.” Her powerful address underscored the vital role women play in shaping and nurturing families, resonating deeply with the audience. This was followed by a lively debate and talent show session, where participants showcased their skills and ideas, adding a dynamic and engaging element to the conference.
Shri Th Benjamin, Chairman of the Afii Village Authority Council, and Mrs. S. Cicily, Chairperson of the Khumai Union Women Society, also addressed the gathering on the first day and second day respectively. Their encouraging words urged the women to continue their efforts toward empowerment, progress, and community development, reinforcing the theme of collective growth.
Cultural performances played a key role in the event, with each of the four colony-wise women’s groups presenting traditional folk songs, adding a festive and cultural flair to the program. A special performance by the women’s society from Senapati further enriched the experience, celebrating the unity and diversity of the participants.
The conference was organized under the leadership of Mrs. Ng Solomi, Chairperson, and Mrs. T Phoebi, Secretary, whose diligent planning ensured the event’s success. Their leadership not only provided a platform for important discussions but also celebrated the invaluable contributions of women to their community.
The event concluded with a mass dinner, bringing together the entire village for a moment of fellowship and unity. The two-day conference left a lasting impression on all who attended, highlighting the influence and power of women in Tunggam Afii Village, while fostering a renewed sense of solidarity and collective responsibility as the community looks toward a brighter future.
