CHURACHANDPUR, Dec 17: The Kuki Students’ Organisation General Headquarters (KSO-GHQ), the apex body representing Kuki students in India, has expressed serious concerns over discrepancies in the recently declared SSC GD results. The organization has flagged significant anomalies in the cut-off marks for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates in Manipur, alleging discrimination that undermines equal opportunities for tribal aspirants.
In a formal letter to the Chairman of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC), the KSO-GHQ highlighted instances where cut-off marks for ST candidates were higher than those for General, OBC, and Unreserved categories. They argued that this inconsistency violates the principles of fairness and disproportionately affects tribal candidates aspiring to serve in India’s defense forces.
The organization cited specific discrepancies in the cut-offs for various forces, including the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and the Border Security Force (BSF). According to the letter, the CISF cut-off for ST candidates was set at 113.24, significantly higher than the cut-offs for OBC (95.92) and Unreserved candidates (100.84). Similar trends were observed in the BSF and Assam Rifles, raising questions about the rationale behind such disparities.
KSO-GHQ emphasized that the disproportionately high cut-offs for ST candidates contradict constitutional provisions designed to protect and promote opportunities for marginalized communities. They urged the SSC to urgently review and revise the cut-offs, taking into account the intellectual and physical capabilities of tribal candidates to ensure a fair selection process.
The organization stressed that these recruitment anomalies exacerbate challenges faced by marginalized communities, particularly in conflict-affected regions like Manipur. They called for a thorough investigation and immediate corrective measures to prevent further inequities.
