SENAPATI, Dec 18: The Naga People Organization (NPO), Senapati, has expressed its deep disappointment with the continued actions of certain Kuki Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), which have repeatedly issued warnings and attempted to prevent the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur and government officials from visiting Naga villages or participating in Naga festivals in Senapati District.
In a statement, the NPO firmly reminded the Kuki community and its leaders that the Nagas have maintained a neutral stance in the ongoing conflict within the state of Manipur. The organization emphasized that its efforts have been focused on promoting peace and harmony within the region. However, the NPO raised concerns over repeated attempts by Kuki leaders to issue unwarranted warnings against the Chief Minister’s participation in Naga cultural and community events.
The NPO also highlighted the Chief Minister’s role as the leader of the entire state, representing all communities, including the Naga community. The attempts by Kuki leaders to prevent the Chief Minister from attending Naga festivals or visiting Naga villages were described as baseless and an overreach of authority.
The NPO called on all parties to respect the neutrality of the Naga community and to work towards genuine peace and mutual understanding in Manipur. It emphasized that lasting harmony in the region can only be achieved through mutual respect and cooperation among all communities.
