AGARTALA, Dec 19: Security measures have been intensified along the India-Bangladesh border and in various parts of Tripura as Union Home Minister Amit Shah prepares for a three-day visit to the state. Shah is scheduled to arrive on December 20 to attend the 72nd plenary session of the North Eastern Council (NEC) and is also expected to visit the Reang tribal settlement camps in Dhalai district.
Ahead of the visit, Tripura Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha and other senior officials toured the bordering areas and districts to review the prevailing security situation and operational readiness. The Border Security Force (BSF) and state agencies have focused on enhancing border management, including strengthening surveillance and launching joint operations with police and intelligence agencies to combat trans-border crime and illegal migration.
Efforts have also been made to address other critical issues such as the relocation of villages ahead of border fencing, the destruction of cannabis plantations, and improving road and electricity connectivity to border outposts.
Tripura Governor N. Indrasena Reddy praised the BSF for maintaining peace and security in the region and emphasized the need for greater collaboration between state agencies and the BSF to tackle emerging challenges.
