NEW DELHI, Dec 20: The productivity of the Winter Session of Parliament was significantly low, with the Lok Sabha recording over 54 percent and the Rajya Sabha at just 40 percent, due to continuous disruptions caused by opposition members.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, in a media briefing following the conclusion of the session in New Delhi today, stated that the productivity was affected because of the ruckus created by opposition MPs. He emphasized that everyone should reflect on this and take responsibility for the session’s underperformance.

The session, which included 20 sittings in the Lok Sabha and 19 sittings in the Rajya Sabha, saw the passage of four bills by the Lok Sabha and three bills by the Rajya Sabha. A significant piece of legislation, the Bharatiya Vayuyaan Vidheyak 2024, was passed by both Houses during the session. Rijiju also highlighted the special discussions held in both Houses to mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution.

In the Lok Sabha, the discussion lasted for over 15 hours, with 62 members participating and Prime Minister Narendra Modi providing a reply. In the Rajya Sabha, the debate continued for over 17 hours, with 80 members contributing, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah delivering the response.
