IMPHAL, Jan 3: In a series of operations on January 2, Manipur Police arrested two individuals and recovered illegal drugs, arms, and ammunition in separate incidents across the state.
A Manipur Police personnel, Md. Abdul Matalip, was apprehended at Pallel Mamang Leikai along the Pallel-Chandel road in Kakching District. He was found in possession of approximately 10.2 kg of suspected WY tablets. The arrest has raised concerns over the involvement of law enforcement personnel in drug trafficking.
In another operation, police arrested a cadre of the Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group (KCP-PWG), identified as Mayengbam Momocha Meitei, aged 42. The arrest took place at Bijoypur Mathak Leikai in Kakching District. A mobile phone was recovered from his possession, and investigations are ongoing to uncover any connections to insurgent activities.

Simultaneously, security forces conducted intensive search and area domination operations in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts. These operations led to the recovery of weapons and ammunition from the forest areas of Saiboh village in Churachandpur District. The seized items included an SLR rifle with a magazine, several country-made firearms, two 9mm pistols with magazines, and various rounds of live ammunition.
