IMPHAL, Jan 4: In a concerted effort to maintain law and order in Manipur, security forces conducted extensive search operations and area domination exercises across vulnerable hill and valley regions. These operations led to the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition from Loibol Khunou in Kangpokpi District.
Recovered items included a modified 7.62mm sniper rifle, an improvised long-range mortar (Pumpi), three 9mm pistols with magazines, a 12-bore gun, an SBBL gun, ten live rounds of ammunition, three No. 36 hand grenades, three picket grenades (anti-riot), two tear smoke grenades (anti-riot), and a Motorola wireless set.
In addition to these recoveries, security forces ensured the safe movement of essential goods across critical highways. A total of 212 vehicles were escorted along NH-37 and four vehicles along NH-2 under strict security measures. Sensitive stretches were closely monitored, and security convoys were deployed to ensure uninterrupted transportation.
To enhance security, 106 checkpoints were established across various districts in both hill and valley areas. Despite heightened vigilance, no violations or detentions were reported, indicating effective implementation of security protocols.
