IMPHAL, Jan 6: Security forces in Manipur’s Churachandpur district arrested two individuals on Sunday after seizing 776 grams of brown sugar and 537 Yaba tablets from their possession during a random security check. The two were caught in a four-wheeler at Khuga in Matta village.
The arrested individuals have been identified as P. Thangkhanlam (45) and Mangliankhup (32). During the operation, security forces found 60 soap cases containing suspected brown sugar and 537 tablets of suspected WY tablets, weighing around 60 grams, along with their vehicle.
Yaba, a combination of methamphetamine and caffeine, is known to be highly addictive. The arrested persons are under investigation, and police are continuing their efforts to curb the growing drug menace in the region.

In a related development, security forces also arrested a cadre of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party-People’s War Group in Kakching district on Sunday. The individual was allegedly involved in extortion activities, further highlighting the ongoing security challenges in the state.
