IMPHAL, Jan 6: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh confirmed on Sunday that 26 Myanmarese nationals, who had entered India through the state’s porous border, were deported back to Myanmar.
In a post shared on social media platform X, the chief minister emphasized that the state government remains committed to combating illegal immigration, while also maintaining its humanitarian approach towards those fleeing conflict. Singh noted, “A group of 26 Myanmar nationals, who entered India through Manipur’s porous border, were deported to their home country today.”
He reiterated the state’s firm stance against illegal migration, while also reaffirming the government’s commitment to ensuring dignified care and departure for individuals fleeing war. Officials revealed that the Myanmar nationals were handed over to Myanmar authorities by representatives of the state police and central forces at the Moreh border town.
