KOHIMA, Jan 27: In a strong demonstration of opposition, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) organized a protest rally at Congress Bhavan in Kohima on Monday. The rally was part of the ongoing ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan,’ a nationwide campaign initiated by the All India Congress Committee.
S Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Parliament from Nagaland and NPCC President, addressed the rally, stating that it was organized to express strong disapproval of the BJP’s recent remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, the father of the Indian Constitution, and their alleged attempts to undermine the Constitution. Jamir reaffirmed the Congress party’s commitment to protecting the core values of the Constitution and ensuring justice and equality for all citizens.
Khriedi Theunuo, Working President of the NPCC, also spoke at the rally, expressing grave concerns about the BJP’s actions, which he claimed were eroding the very foundation of the Constitution. He highlighted the detrimental impact of such actions on the legacy of pivotal leaders like Ambedkar and Mahatma Gandhi, who fought for India’s democratic and constitutional principles.
Theunuo further emphasized that India, as a nation, could not do justice to its people’s rights and aspirations without the guidance of the Constitution.
