PRAYAGRAJ, Feb 6: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh, accompanied by some of his cabinet colleagues and MLAs, participated in the holy ritual at the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj today, taking a dip at the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers. This sacred act is a symbolic gesture of devotion and purification.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), CM Singh expressed his prayers for the “peace, prosperity, and well-being” of the nation, as well as for the people of Manipur, which has been grappling with unrest since May 2023, following violent ethnic clashes between the Meitei community and the Kuki tribes.
Standing at the holy confluence, CM Singh reflected on the significance of the moment, saying, “As the cool waters touch the soul, they wash away not just the dust of the body but the burdens of countless lifetimes.” Wearing a traditional white dhoti and stole, the chief minister continued, “With folded hands and a heart full of devotion, I pray for the peace, prosperity, and well-being of our great nation and the beloved people of Manipur.”
Singh also described the sacred experience at Triveni Sangam, adding, “At Triveni Sangam, where sacred rivers unite, the waters cleanse both body and soul. I pray for our nation and Manipur, seeking peace, strength, and prosperity. May divine grace guide us toward unity and light.”
Earlier, Uttar Pradesh Minister Dinesh Khatik had extended an invitation to the Manipur Chief Minister to attend the Maha Kumbh. CM Singh departed for Delhi on Wednesday, followed by three ministers and four BJP MLAs the same day.
