KOHIMAI, Feb 21: The Nagaland government has established a task force to promote the growing animation, gaming, and related sectors in the state. The task force, formed in a meeting attended by Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam and key government officials, includes representatives from at least 12 stakeholder departments. These departments range from Higher Education, Finance, Planning & Transformation, to Information Technology & Communications, Law & Justice, Education, SCERT, and Industries & Commerce.
The primary responsibility of the task force will be to develop a policy framework to guide the growth and development of the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics, and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR) sector in Nagaland. A steering committee on AVGC-XR will also be created at the state level to oversee the initiative.
The AVGC-XR sector is an emerging field in the entertainment and digital media industry, combining traditional content forms such as animation and comics with immersive technologies like Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR), and Mixed Reality (MR). The sector holds vast potential across various applications, including movies, video games, education, training simulations, and interactive digital experiences. The government’s move is aimed at positioning Nagaland as a key player in this innovative and rapidly expanding industry.
