Voluntary Surrender of Illegal Weapons Continues Across Manipur

IMPHAL, Feb 25: Voluntary surrender of illegal weapons continued across multiple districts in Manipur, following the Governor’s seven-day ultimatum issued two days ago. The initiative is part of efforts to enhance public safety and curb the proliferation of illegal arms in the region.

Among the notable items handed over were Self-Loading Rifles (SLRs), carbines, pistols, and various types of ammunition and accessories. In Imphal East District, at Andro Police Station, an SLR with a magazine was surrendered. Similarly, at Sagolmang Police Station in the same district, four carbines with magazines were handed over, along with live rounds and additional equipment.

Heingang Police Station also reported the surrender of several items, including a 9mm pistol, tube launching systems, and protective gear such as bulletproof jackets and helmets. Meanwhile, in Churachandpur District, CCP Police Station received several SLRs and .303 rifles, while Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West District saw the surrender of a wide range of firearms and explosives, including a carbine, a double-barrel shotgun, and multiple grenades and magazines.
