IMPHAL, Feb 25: In a significant development, representatives from Arambai Tenggol (AT) met with the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, and submitted a memorandum at the Raj Bhawan in Imphal this evening.
The AT representatives engaged in a discussion with the Governor that lasted nearly an hour, focusing on the current situation in the state. Following the meeting, the Governor’s Public Relations Officer, Robin Khwairakpam, addressed the media, expressing high expectations that peace would soon be restored. Robin stated that the return of normalcy is anticipated after the arms deposits, with free passage to highways also expected to be restored in the near future.
The PRO added that an understanding has been reached between the Governor and the representatives, which will be made available to the public later. The memorandum submitted by AT today aligns with the one previously submitted to the Governor and includes several key demands:
- Border Fencing
- Implementation of NRC with 1951 as base year
- Deportation of all illegal immigrant to their native places
- Abrogation of Suspension of Operation (SoO) and stringent action against
Soo violation Militants - Complete destruction of Poppy Plantation
- Withdrawal of ST status from Illegal immigrants
- No arrest or legal action against Village Volunteers including Arambal Tenggol by any Commission, Tribunal, Court etc.
- Amendment of MLR & LR Act 1960 for equal implementation in both hitl and valley
- Reinstate the ST status of Meitei/Meetei.
