Union Minister Nitin Gadkari Unveils Rs. 80,000 Crore Road Projects In Assam

GUWAHATI, Feb 26: Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari unveiled a series of ambitious road projects worth Rs. 80,000 crore for Assam during a virtual address at the Advantage Assam 2.0 summit on Wednesday. These transformative initiatives are set to drastically improve the state’s infrastructure, with key projects including a tunnel beneath the Brahmaputra River and an elevated corridor at Kaziranga National Park.

Gadkari highlighted the ministry’s commitment to developing Assam’s transportation network, with plans to complete projects worth Rs. 3 lakh crore in the next 15 years. These projects are expected to significantly enhance connectivity and foster economic growth in the region. Among the new initiatives are the construction of the Guwahati ring road, the Brahmaputra tunnel, and the Kaziranga elevated corridor.

The Union Minister also shared that ongoing projects, valued at Rs. 60,000 crore, are already in progress at various stages of completion across the state. These projects further demonstrate the government’s dedication to improving Assam’s infrastructure.

In addition to the road projects, the second day of the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit saw the signing of five significant Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). These agreements span critical sectors, including healthcare, education, energy, and industry, reflecting Assam’s growing investment potential and its role as a key contributor to India’s economic development.
