WASHINGTON, March 6: US President Donald Trump issued a stark “last warning” to Hamas, demanding the immediate release of hostages and the return of deceased bodies. In a post on Truth Social, Trump stated, “Release all of the hostages now, not later, and immediately return all of the dead bodies of the people you murdered, or it is OVER for you.”
The warning comes as the White House confirmed that direct talks with Hamas have been taking place to secure the release of hostages, a shift from the US’s longstanding policy of avoiding direct engagement with designated terrorist groups. Trump’s message also included threats to Hamas leadership and civilians in Gaza if the hostages are not released. The post followed the recent release of some hostages under a ceasefire agreement and marked another escalation in the ongoing conflict.
In his post, Trump vowed to provide Israel with necessary support, indicating that no Hamas member would be safe if they fail to meet demands. The US has been negotiating with Hamas through special envoy Adam Boehler, and discussions have reportedly taken place in Qatar. Israel confirmed that 59 hostages remain in Gaza, with a number of US citizens among them. The US continues to work with Israel to resolve the hostage situation amid broader efforts to end the conflict.
