SENAPATI, March 11: Three Border Security Force (BSF) personnel lost their lives, and multiple others sustained injuries after the truck they were traveling in fell into a gorge at Changoubung village in Kangpokpi district, officials reported.
According to sources, the accident occurred around 3:15 PM as the BSF personnel were returning from duty. The vehicle, carrying around 16 personnel, veered off the road and plunged into a deep gorge between Changoubung village and Kangpokpi town.
Officials confirmed that two jawans died on the spot, while another succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been kept at the Senapati District Hospital, and authorities have reported that some of the injured personnel are in critical condition.
The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident. “Manipur Governor, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic accident in Changoubung village, Senapati district, where three BSF personnel lost their lives. He extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the Raj Bhavan said in a post on X.
