MPHAL, March 25: Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla inaugurated the State Krishi Mela 2025 today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Sanglen, Palace Compound. Organized by the State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), Manipur, and the Department of Agriculture, the event aims to promote agricultural advancements and raise awareness about government initiatives in the sector.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Bhalla emphasized the vital role of agriculture in sustaining Manipur’s economy and noted that the Krishi Mela serves as a platform for sharing innovations, knowledge, and government schemes that support agricultural development. He highlighted the significant progress made in farming techniques, sustainability, and mechanization while stressing the need for further efforts to enhance productivity and efficiency. He also underlined the role of institutions like the Central Agricultural University (CAU) in driving research and development.
The Governor reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting farmers through the provision of seeds, subsidies, financial aid, and expert guidance. He interacted with participants from various districts and departments, exploring exhibits showcasing local products, agricultural equipment, and innovative farming technologies. He inquired about the demonstrated technologies to understand their applications and benefits in enhancing agricultural productivity.
As part of the event, Governor Bhalla distributed benefits to beneficiaries under various government schemes aimed at boosting agricultural growth. The event was attended by Dr. Anupam Mishra, Vice Chancellor of CAU, Imphal, and Arun Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary (Agriculture), among other dignitaries.
