SENAPATI, April 9: The Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (MKS), has issued a clarification in response to a widely circulated social media message alleging that a Kuki youth, Henminlal Khongsai (18 years) from Athibung village, Nagaland, was assaulted at Maram.
The Union categorically denied the allegations, stating that no such incident took place in Maram, Senapati District. It termed the claim as “entirely fabricated” and part of a deliberate propaganda to “tarnish and defame the name of the Maram community.”
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, MKS expressed concern over the actions taken by Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills without any verification of the youth’s claims. “Shockingly, despite the lack of any verification or authentication of the youth’s claims, a team led by Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, including its President Thangmilien Kipgen and four others, came to Senapati Police Station and picked up the youth,” the statement read.
Raising serious questions, MKS asked:
• Why did the Kuki Inpi team take custody of the boy, rather than allowing his family members to do so?
• On what basis was their action justified, when the facts of the alleged incident were unverified?
• Was this a move to politicize the issue and further spread communal misinformation?
The union strongly condemned what it described as a “clear attempt to manipulate the narrative and escalate tensions by bypassing proper procedures.”
Asserting its stand, MKS demanded a formal public apology from the individuals involved in the act within 48 hours of the statement’s release. It warned that failure to issue the apology would compel the union to take necessary steps, including legal action and public exposure of those involved, in order to defend the dignity and integrity of the Maram community.
The students’ body also called upon the concerned authorities to thoroughly investigate the origin of the fabricated report, the motives behind its circulation, and the actions of those who acted prematurely based on unverified information.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace, truth, and coexistence, MKS strongly condemned any actions intended to disturb communal harmony.
