SENAPATI, April 24: In a move to enforce the provisions of the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (as amended), the District Council Administration of the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Senapati, has issued an order prohibiting the stocking and selling of banned Single Use Plastic (SUP) items across the district.
“In pursuance of Guidelines for Assessment of Environment Compensation to be levied for violation of Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 (as amended), it is hereby notified that stocking and selling of prohibited Single Use Plastic (SUP) items or selling products in plastic bags which are not complying with provisions of Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 shall be banned in the District,” as per the order signed by, Adahrii Maheo, CEO, ADC, Senapati.
The EC regime, which takes immediate effect, outlines penalties and actions for various categories are as follows:
1. Stockists & Distributors
• Seizure of SUP products or plastic bags/sheets
• Fine:
– Rs. 2,000 for the first violation
– Rs. 5,000 for the second violation
– Rs. 10,000 for the third incident
2. Commercial Establishments:
• Seizure of SUP products or plastic bags/sheets
• Cancellation of commercial license
• Fine:
– Rs. 2,000 for the first violation
– Rs. 5,000 for the second violation
– Rs. 10,000 for the third incident
3. Street Vendors:
• Seizure of SUP products or plastic bags/sheets
• Fine:
– Rs. 200 for the first violation
– Rs. 500 for the second violation
– Rs. 1,000 for the third incident, with seizure of trade documents for further violations
