IMPHAL, April 25: Border Security Force’s (BSF) Eastern Command chief and Additional Director General (ADG), Ravi Gandhi, conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation and operational readiness of the force during his two-day visit to Manipur, officials confirmed on Friday.
ADG Gandhi arrived in Imphal on Thursday and, along with Inspector General Indra Deo Singh, met with the Security Advisor to the Manipur government, Kuldiep Singh. The review included a detailed operational meeting at the Sector Headquarters in Koirengei, where senior BSF officials discussed ongoing challenges and strategies.
During the visit, ADG Gandhi traveled to various BSF locations in Senapati and Kangpokpi districts, where he interacted with commanders and troops stationed in these mountainous regions. He commended their dedication and professionalism in maintaining law and order and encouraged them to uphold their duties with continued commitment and zeal.
In addition to his field visits, the BSF chief held high-level discussions with Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan, Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh at the civil secretariat, and Director General of Police Rajiv Singh at Police Headquarters. The meetings focused on assessing the security landscape, BSF troop deployment, and the operational preparedness of central paramilitary forces.
ADG Gandhi has previously visited Manipur multiple times amid ongoing ethnic violence in the state. Besides the BSF, a substantial deployment of Army, Assam Rifles, CRPF, ITBP, and Manipur police continues to manage law and order in both valley and hill districts.
Joint operations by Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), Army, Assam Rifles, and Manipur police are ongoing, including search missions, area domination patrols, and the recovery of illegally-held arms and ammunition. Security forces are reportedly arresting six to eight militants daily, many of whom are involved in kidnappings, extortion from contractors, government staff, traders, and civilians across various districts.
