IMPHAL, May 9: Manipur security forces have intensified their crackdown on insurgent groups and extortion networks, arresting multiple active cadres from various valley-based outfits during coordinated operations held on May 7 and 8.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, combing and search operations were carried out across Imphal, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and neighbouring districts.
On May 8, four active members of the proscribed KCP (MFL) outfit were arrested from Lamding Khumanthem Leikai under the jurisdiction of Thoubal Police Station. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ningthoujam Amitra Singh, Phairembam Manglemnganba Meitei, Chesaba Umar Ali, and Yumnam Angaosana Singh. They were allegedly involved in multiple criminal cases including extortion, kidnapping, and threatening government offices and financial institutions.
From their possession, security personnel recovered one country-made 9 mm pistol with a magazine, three live rounds, one grenade, multiple mobile phones, and SIM cards.

On the same day, another active cadre of the KCP (Noyon-MFL), identified as Yumnam Bidyasagar Meitei, was apprehended from Sekmai Bazar in Imphal West district.
In a separate operation on May 7, police successfully rescued a kidnapping victim, Md. Sadam Hussain, and apprehended three members of the banned UNLF(P) from Lilong Bridge along NH-102. Hussain was reportedly abducted from the RIMS complex in Lamphel for ransom.
The arrested UNLF(P) cadres have been identified as Laishram Amarjit Singh, Khumanthem Motilal Singh, and Yumnam Hitlar Meitei. A 9 mm pistol with ammunition, mobile phones, cash, Aadhaar cards, and a four-wheeler were recovered from them.
In another action, Sagolsem Bobo Meetei of KCP (PWG) was arrested from the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex area, while Khundrakpam Naresh Singh was nabbed from Bishnupur district. Both were allegedly involved in extortion activities and were found carrying mobile phones, ID documents, and cash.
Additionally, police arrested Hidam Aboy Singh, an active member of KCP (Noyon), from his residence in Nongren Maning Leikai, Imphal East. A mobile phone was seized during the raid.
