Manipur Police Seize Heroin Worth Rs 11 Crore in Churachandpur, Three Smugglers Arrested

CHURACHANDPUR, May 13: A combined team of central security forces and Manipur police has seized heroin worth approximately Rs 11.05 crores in the international drug trade and apprehended three suspected smugglers in Churachandpur district. The operation was carried out on May 12, following intelligence inputs that led to the interception of a vehicle traveling towards New Lamka in Churachandpur.

The security forces, comprising Assam Rifles and Churachandpur district police, stopped a brown Bolero vehicle (MN 01W 9186) and recovered 97 soap cases containing suspected heroin weighing about 1.164 kilograms. The drugs, valued at an estimated Rs 11.05 crores, were part of an illicit international deal.

The three individuals arrested in connection with the seizure were identified as Minlun Valphei (34) of Gouchinkhup Veng, David Nehtinthang (32) of Sehjang village, and Lunkholal (53) of Apollo Veng, all from Churachandpur district. The suspects, along with the recovered drugs, three mobile phones, and the impounded vehicle, were handed over to the Churachandpur police for further investigation.

A case has been registered, and further action is underway as part of the ongoing investigation into the narcotics trafficking operation.
