Manipur Records 16 New COVID-19 Cases, Imphal East Sees Highest Positivity Rate

IMPHAL, June 19: Manipur reported 16 fresh COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, pushing the state’s active case count to 51, according to the latest data from the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP). No new COVID-related deaths were recorded during this period.

Imphal East emerged as the current hotspot, logging 8 positive cases out of 13 samples, reflecting a high positivity rate of 61.5%. Imphal West followed with 7 cases from 15 samples (46.7% positivity), while Tengnoupal reported 1 case from a single test. No other districts recorded new infections.

Out of 38 samples tested statewide, 16 returned positive, marking a day’s positivity rate of 42.1%. Since June 1, a total of 185 COVID-19 tests have been conducted across the state, with 53 testing positive.

  • RT-PCR/TrueNat: 10 tests, 7 positives
  • CBNAAT: 24 tests, 5 positives
  • Rapid Antigen Tests: 28 tests, 4 positives

Currently, 48 patients are under home isolation. Two individuals were discharged after completing the mandatory seven-day isolation. Since the beginning of this month, 50 patients have been placed under home isolation protocols.

Although there were no discharges or fatalities reported today, health officials have urged the public to remain vigilant, especially in districts with rising positivity rates. The advisory calls for strict adherence to COVID-appropriate behaviour and prompt testing in case of symptoms.
