IMPHAL, June 27: In a series of coordinated operations across multiple districts, Manipur Police have arrested three active insurgents and an arms dealer as part of their intensified crackdown on insurgent networks and illegal arms activity in the state.
On June 26, Md. Helan, a 25-year-old resident of Irong Chesaba Salam Achouba in Thoubal district, was apprehended near the Wednesday Market area in Mayang Imphal Bengoon Maning Makha under Mayang Imphal Police Station, Imphal West. Helan had reportedly been threatening locals using a .32 pistol and a dummy gun. Police recovered a loaded .32 caliber pistol, a dummy firearm with a fake magazine, a black leather holster, a Redmi Note 13 5G smartphone with a Jio SIM card, and a brown wallet containing his Aadhaar card. He was arrested without resistance.

On June 25, Thangjam Puremba Singh, also known as Thapanba, a 26-year-old active cadre of the proscribed group PREPAK (Pro), was arrested from his residence at Khurai Thangjam Leikai in Imphal East district under Porompat Police Station. A mobile phone and his Aadhaar card were recovered during the arrest.

In another operation on June 26, Loukrakpam Premi Devi, a 43-year-old woman operative of the banned outfit RPF/PLA, was arrested from Haobam Marak Ngangom Leikai under Singjamei Police Station, Imphal West. She had reportedly issued threats and monetary demands to officials at the Lamphel Deputy Commissioner’s office and courier services in the Imphal area. From her possession, police recovered a grey side bag containing an Aadhaar card and two mobile handsets.
All individuals were taken into custody without incident, and separate cases have been registered against them.
