GUWAHATI, June 27: In a significant step toward accelerating development in the Northeast, the Central government has conducted a comprehensive review of infrastructure projects worth ₹41,000 crore across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, and Sikkim. The high-level meeting, chaired by Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) Secretary Amardeep Singh Bhatia, was held to resolve bottlenecks and improve inter-ministerial and state coordination for faster execution.

Organised by the Project Monitoring Group (PMG), the review focused on critical sectors such as road connectivity, power generation, and investment facilitation. A major highlight was the ₹6,700 crore project in Assam and three key projects in Arunachal Pradesh valued at ₹33,469 crore, including the 2,880 MW Dibang Hydropower Project. Developed by NHPC under the Ministry of Power, the Dibang project is poised to become India’s tallest dam and is expected to generate over 11,000 million units of clean energy annually. The project, which is scheduled for commissioning by February 2032, will contribute to the country’s Net Zero targets and provide Arunachal Pradesh with 13% free power, along with flood control benefits.
