NEW DELHI, July 1: In a major move to enhance passenger experience and modernize railway services, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday launched the ‘RailOne’ app during the 40th Foundation Day celebration of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS) at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi.
The newly launched RailOne app is designed to serve as a one-stop solution for various railway-related passenger services through a simplified and user-friendly interface. Available on both Android and iOS platforms, the app integrates features such as booking unreserved and platform tickets (offering a 3% discount), live train tracking, e-catering, grievance redressal, porter services, and last-mile taxi bookings. While reserved ticket booking will continue to be available through the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) platform, RailOne is authorized by IRCTC and adds to the list of partner applications offering railway services.
RailOne supports single sign-on functionality using mPIN or biometric login and allows users to log in with their existing RailConnect and UTS credentials, making it easier and more convenient for passengers without requiring multiple applications.
During the event, Minister Vaishnaw praised CRIS for its ongoing efforts in building a robust digital infrastructure for Indian Railways. He also provided updates on the upcoming Modern Passenger Reservation System (PRS), which is expected to be launched by December 2025. The new PRS will be multilingual, agile, and capable of handling up to 1.5 lakh ticket bookings and 40 lakh inquiries per minute. It will include enhanced features such as seat selection, fare calendars, and special options tailored for Divyangjan, students, and patients.
The launch of RailOne and the plans for a modernized PRS underscore the commitment of Indian Railways to leveraging digital technologies for delivering inclusive, efficient, and world-class services. The initiative is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming Indian Railways into a driving force for national development.
