KOHIMA, July 8: The Nagaland Government has urged the 5 Tribes Committee on Review of Reservation Policy (CoRRP) to call off their planned sit-in protest scheduled for July 9 at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat, citing ongoing efforts to address their concerns through official channels.
In a press release issued by the Office of the Chief Secretary, the state government reiterated that the grievances raised by the committee are being handled at the highest level. It pointed to a meeting held on June 3, 2025, chaired by Deputy Chief Minister (Home), where representatives of the 5 Tribes CoRRP and apex tribal bodies were assured that the matter would be referred to the State Cabinet.
Following this assurance, the Nagaland State Cabinet, during its meeting on June 12, resolved in principle to set up a Commission to review and examine all aspects of the state’s Reservation Policy in government employment. The Personnel and Administrative Reforms (P&AR) Department has since been tasked with initiating the necessary follow-up measures in line with the Cabinet directive.
In light of this institutional process already in motion, the government has appealed to the committee to allow the established mechanisms to take their course. The statement emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing the issue through structured, democratic, and constitutional means, and reassured that the concerns of all stakeholders will be handled with sensitivity and due diligence.
