IMPHAL, July 11: The Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) has responded to a representation submitted by the Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), addressing demands for the reservation of one post for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates out of three advertised posts of Development Officer (DIC), and a request for five years of age relaxation for ST candidates across all 18 sanctioned posts.

In a letter addressed to the President of TYCM and General Secretary of TYCM, the MPSC acknowledged the reference to Government Order No. 9/6/2007-SC/ST/OBC/DP(Pt) dated November 14, 2014, which was cited by the council in its submission. However, the Commission clarified that the recruitment advertisement was issued in accordance with a requisition received from the Administrative Department on April 24, 2021.

According to the MPSC, the total number of sanctioned posts for Development Officer (DIC) is 4, while the current recruitment process pertains to only 3 posts. As the sanctioning of posts and determination of vacancies fall within the jurisdiction of the Administrative Department, the Commission has advised TYCM to approach the Administrative Department (TC&l) directly for further details or clarification.

“Regarding age relaxation for Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates is applicable to posts that are reserved for their respective categories. While ST candidates are indeed eligible to apply for and compete for Un-Reserved (UR) posts, their candidature for such posts is to be considered under the general standards applicable to the Un-Reserved category, including age criteria. Therefore, age relaxation for ST/SC/OBC candidates is not extended to vacant posts advertised under the Un-Reserved (UR) category,” the letter read.
