Imphal, July 16: The Central Government has appointed senior IAS officer Puneet Kumar Goel as the new Chief Secretary of Manipur, as per an official order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.
Goel, a 1991-batch officer of the AGMUT cadre, brings with him extensive administrative experience across various capacities in the Union Territories and northeastern states.
He replaces Prashant Kumar Singh, a 1993-batch IAS officer of the Manipur cadre, who had assumed the post of Chief Secretary in January this year. Singh has now been appointed as Secretary, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes.
The administrative reshuffle comes at a crucial time as Manipur continues to navigate complex governance challenges, including issues related to law and order, inter-community tensions, and development in the hill and valley districts.
