Imphal, July 21: Puneet Kumar Goel officially took charge as the new Chief Secretary of Manipur on Monday, marking a significant transition in the state’s administrative leadership. Goel, a 1991-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the AGMUT cadre, assumed his new role at a brief handover function held at the Old Secretariat in Imphal.
The ceremony saw outgoing Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh formally passing on responsibilities to Goel in the presence of senior officials and departmental heads. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) had cleared Goel’s appointment on July 16.
An official government statement said, “The Manipur government marked a transition in administrative leadership with the official handover of charge from outgoing Chief Secretary Prashant Kumar Singh to newly appointed CS Puneet Kumar Goel.”
Senior department heads and officials present at the event extended their gratitude to Singh for his committed service and also conveyed their best wishes to Goel.
Goel arrived in Imphal on Sunday and was received at the airport by a senior delegation of state officials led by Home Commissioner Ashok Kumar.
