Tengnoupal, July 25: Letpao Haokip, Member of the Manipur Legislative Assembly representing the 42-Tengnoupal (ST) constituency, has called on the state government to take immediate action over the alleged prolonged absence of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) from the designated Tengnoupal district headquarters.
In a letter addressed to the Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Haokip expressed serious concern that the DC has been operating from a village near the Kakching district border rather than from the official headquarters, causing significant public inconvenience and disrupting essential governance and administrative functions.

Highlighting that DCs in other hill districts have been fulfilling their duties from their respective headquarters, the MLA noted that repeated public complaints have emerged from Tengnoupal due to the DC’s absence. He urged the government to either direct the current officer to resume duties from the district HQ immediately or appoint a new, more accountable officer.
Haokip underscored that his appeal was made in the public interest and emphasized the need for swift government intervention to restore proper administrative functioning in Tengnoupal.
