Bengaluru, August 6: In a celebration that combined tradition, talent, and testimony, the Poumai Naga community in Bangalore commemorated the 30th Vedaoyu Niih cum Raising Day, drawing hundreds to an event filled with faith, culture, and community pride.
Organized by the Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me, Bangalore (PNTMB), the landmark event symbolized three decades of Poumai spiritual and cultural identity, especially among its growing diaspora in South India.
The morning session opened with a prayerful Invocation by Fr. James Chin SJ, followed by an inspiring Presidential Address by Dahinii Titus H, President of PNTMB. Reflecting on the board’s 30-year journey, she emphasized the importance of cultural preservation and spiritual continuity in a changing world.
The atmosphere was enriched by a touching folk song performance by Phuba Bengaluru, and blessings from spiritual leaders such as Rev. Dr. K.H. Reihe, Nungsangmongla Ozukum (NSUB President), and H. Sapuni Poumachi, who offered historical insight into the origins of the board.

The event was honored by a lineup of dignitaries whose presence elevated the occasion:
Chief Guest: Shri Joram Maivio, Special Invitee – Ministry of Home Affairs (GoI), and Member – Lt. Governor of Delhi’s Committee for the North East
Guest of Honor: Shri Rajesh A.M. (IFS), Joint Resident Commissioner, Government of Manipur
Special Invitees: Captain Roveinai Paotei, First Naga Lady Pilot, the first Naga woman pilot from Manipur (Akasa Air) and Benjamin Varay (Sr. System Operations Engineer, Wells Fargo)
In his keynote speech, Shri Maivio emphasized the importance of community solidarity:
“Never forget your roots — that is your foundation. A true family celebrates each other’s victories and also stands firm through pain and hardship. That is the kind of family we must keep building.”
He also applauded PNTMB for making the event possible, calling it “a powerful example of cultural continuity in the diaspora.”
The mid-morning session witnessed a vibrant cultural showcase featuring traditional dances, tribal attire, and fusion art, each performance offering a window into the rich Poumai heritage. It was a visual and emotional reminder of the tribe’s deep-rooted identity and resilience.
Adding star power to the occasion were guest artistes Ziikhu Titus and NG Atoznah, who traveled from Senapati, Manipur to perform exclusively for the community. Their emotionally-charged, folk-inspired sets brought cheers and heartfelt connection from the audience, making it one of the most memorable segments of the event.

The second session featured Freshers’ Got Talent and a glamorous Crowning Ceremony, honoring the newest members of the community. After rounds of performance and interviews, the titles were awarded as follows:
