Paomata, August 9: A wave of warmth and togetherness swept through St. Savio Church, Paomata Centre, on Saturday as the Khumai (Tunggam) Women Society joined hands with the Poumai Natoumai Me to celebrate the 38th Rising Day.
Under the heartfelt theme “Nurturing Bonds, Shaping Futures,” the day drew about 400 women from Khumai (Tunggam) village, united in faith, friendship, and a shared vision for the future.
The morning began with the first session, guided by moderator Mrs. Th Sarou, and opened in prayer by Mrs. Th Asherou. Gentle voices rose in praise and worship, filling the church with a sense of reverence. Special prayers were lifted for the Poumai Women Society, Khumai Women Society, and local needs close to the hearts of the community. The Holy Cross Church Women Society added their voices in a moving special number, setting a prayerful tone.
The day’s speaker, Mrs. L Therou, wife of Rev. A Daiho Pao, spoke with insight and passion on the theme, reminding the women of the power found in unity and the shared responsibility to shape a brighter tomorrow. Followed by the congregation joined in a special offering for mission work. The session closed on a solemn note with a benediction from Th Bane.
After a short break, laughter and anticipation filled the air as the second session began, moderated by Mrs. A Therou. An opening prayer by Mrs Nesherou prepared hearts, followed by a melodious song from the Makhufii Baptist Church Women Society. Former Union Chairperson Mrs. Kh Hriiniirou took the stage, her seasoned wisdom and heartfelt exhortation drawing both respect and admiration from the gathering.
The atmosphere soon turned lively with extempore speeches and a spirited talent show, where women showcased skills ranging from oratory to performing arts. Applause and laughter echoed through the hall as the community celebrated the joy of each other’s gifts.
The day drew to a close with a final benediction from Mrs. R Yaorou, after which the women gathered outdoors for a mass dinner in the church compound, sharing food, stories, and fellowship under the evening sky.
